Health Voices

Speak your story out loud.

I turn it into a small book.

Free. Meaningful.

Health struggles are lonely.

Others feel so all alone, and need to hear how you navigated it and survived. I've had more than my share of physical and mental health challenges. I felt less despair reading others' struggles in online groups. Tell your story. Get a free book.

Voice-to-Print

My unique technology does the heavy lifting. Your verbal story is transcribed and lightly edited, such as removing "uhms" and "ahs." Your story and your voice remain authentically "you." Then I send you a free book.

Why am I doing this?

I'm retired. Over the years, I've heard so many moving stories. But spoken truth is fragile. Most of those stories are now lost to time. So, I decided to devote my retirement to preserving as many stories in print as possible. ~Ken

this is a personal mission.

What you do.

You record your story in the free app by StoryCorps that I'll help you with. StoryCorps is a non-profit organization that's been around since 2003. They have recorded the life stories of over 700,000 Americans. Your story is safe and private.

Editing.jpg

What I do.

I transcribe your recording and gently edit it to make it easy to read without changing your voice. I make sure all the grammar and spelling is correct and there are natural paragraph breaks. You have the chance to review and edit it before I print.

Then I mail your free book. If you wish, you may order additional copies later.

Optional: I can print a QR code in the story that will link to your audio recording in StoryCorps. No charge for this.

It's simple.

Ready to tell your story?

I'll personally work with you.

How can I do this for free?

I'm a born skeptic. I would be asking "what's the catch?" So, if that's you too, here's how:

I founded a publishing company, Scribora Publishing. As part of the infrastructure for it, I invested thousands into creating our Voice-to-Print™ process. It was designed to help grandparents create family heirloom story books.

But I realized that I was thinking too small. Everyone has a story to share.

So, I decided to use our technology to start a non-profit initiative.

I'd simply help everyone tell just one story. Something that's doable in just a few minutes. Your simple story told out loud can become a legacy right now.

Because of our technology, there is no human labor until I personally review each story before print. And the book costs just five dollars to print and ship.

This really is free. But if you want extra copies, I'm keeping the cost as low as I possibly can. Additional copies are just $12.95 for paperback and $9.99 for Kindle. If you purchase a few copies, you'll be helping offset costs associated with the project and make it possible for everyone, regardless of income, to participate. But you don't have to. ~Ken

Pain isolates.

Over the last 12 years, I've come close to death several times. Emergency heart surgery, multiple pulmonary embolisms, and sepsis are just a few. I shattered my femur four years ago and I still walk with a limp.

Last year, as a side effect of medication, I was on a catheter for seven months. That was fun.

I've learned to hate needles and hospitals.

On top of it all, I suffer from bipolar. The mood swings can get bad. In the last six years, I've been inpatient twice for depression.

I could not have made it through without the stories of others. Their stories dispelled the deep loneliness. They were lifesavers.

Someone needs to hear your story.

Tell your story out loud.
I print your book. Simple.
